Coda Piano: Lessons

Welcome to the lessons page. The Coda learning method presents you with 2 main learning areas, Lessons and Songs. In the Lessons section you can learn all the skills and techniques needed to start playing your favourite music. 

This is the most detailed learning method online and best of all it’s free!

Areas covered include posture, increasing finger dexterity, coordinating boths hands, developing melodic and rhythmic aspects of your playing, useful theory and notation elements for pinao and and much more. These lessons will provide you with the techniques and knowledge to develop your playing further in our Songs section, where you can learn using Coda Piano’s exclusive song series.

The Lessons section is split into different levels of difficulty and is designed to cover a wide range of styles including, rock, pop, indie, blues, funk, country and more.

At each level you can learn both Technique and Music Elements lessons.

The Technique lessons offer detailed demonstrations and exercises covering the best way to play the piano, guiding you towards a good playing technique, while avoiding common learning pitfalls.
The Music Elements lessons provide you with the knowledge to be able to play songs at different levels, and show you how to use the skills learned in the technique lessons in a musical way.

Coda Piano’s learning method is designed to reflect the different skills and experience required to play Rockschool songs at different grade levels.

• Coda Piano’s Absolute Beginner level is designed for complete beginners with 0 – 2 months experience, and those guitarists wishing to improve their basic technique.
• Coda Piano’s Beginner level is designed for guitarists with some basic knowledge of playing with 1 – 6 months experience, and those guitarists wishing to improve their basic technique.
• Coda Piano’s lessons at levels 1–5 are equivalent to Rockschool grades 1–5, with level 1 aimed at guitarists with around 6 months experience, and those guitarists wishing to improve their technique.
• Everyone learns at their own pace and on average people take 6 months or more to progress to the next grade level, unless you turn out to be the next musical genius of your generation!
